Let's run 100 miles(!!!)

On August 3-4, I’m running 100 miles on Mt. Hood in one push to raise grant funding to get more girls outdoors.

Girls need adventurous role models in order to see what's possible for them.

I never thought I'd be able to run 100 miles. I never thought I'd own a business. I never thought I'd stand atop snowy volcanoes. I simply didn't see enough women in the media doing these feats, and nobody in school growing up showed me what was possible.

Thankfully, the adventure world is shifting, and more and more women are breaking barriers and sharing their gifts with the world.

After too many instances of being the sole woman in male-dominated athletic spaces, I finally started to see more women running ultramarathons. So, I decided to go for my first 50k race.

That turned into three more, with many friendly endurance challenges sprinkled in (11k feet of hiking in a day, a 200 mile bike ride, etc.).

Each run and each adventure helped me feel more confident in my place as a woman in the world. If 50k races can do that, I wonder what 100 miles would do?

Honestly, I'm not even sure if I'll be able to reach this goal and finish the 100 miles within the 34 hour cut-off.

But I know whatever happens, attempting this adventure will not only enhance my own strengths, but will show young girls that they're built for hard challenges, too.

Revenue from this fundraiser will be channeled in scholarships sponsored by The Cairn Project that offer transformative outdoor opportunities for young women and gender expansive youth.
