Angie marie: she/her

Hey, hi, howdy. I’m Angie.

My personal style is National Park, but make it glam.

I’m an endurance athlete and adventure seeker, but I’m not the first, fastest or farthest.

I’m just having the most fun.

And I like to share that stoke with others.

I want to build confident, competent, adventurous leaders of all backgrounds. Why?

My superpower is making outdoor adventure more approachable and accessible to communities.

Everybody loves a summit selfie. But most people don't get to peer into the infinite behind-the-scenes moments before and after the shutter snaps-- which is where the true magic happens!

The values and processes of outdoor journeys compel me to dig deeper into what's possible for my mind and body— and I bet you might feel the same way.

I seek to make the ordinary extraordinary. And I want to bring your audience along for the journey.

My years as an adaptive recreation guide showed me how important it is for underserved communities to have the option to access wilderness experiences.

With a decade of nonprofit experience, I’ve devoted myself to inclusion in the outdoors industry through educational programs and experiences.

I’m a white, cis-gender woman who holds many privileges. Yet I still face barriers in outdoor adventure, including sexism and elitism in sport.

To move toward a more equitable future in the outdoors industry, we need collaboration over competition. And we can make that fun.

My outdoor training includes:

  • Wilderness First Responder (National Outdoor Leadership School)

  • First Aid, CPR/AED, and Wilderness First Aid Instructor (American Red Cross)

  • Swiftwater Rescue Technician (Rescue 3)

  • Adaptive whitewater raft guide on the Colorado and Green Rivers

  • Youth outdoor program curriculum writer and event planner

  • Search And Rescue volunteer team member experience

  • AIARE Level 1 (AIARE Decision Making in Avalanche Terrain)

  • SheJumps Oregon Community Ambassador

Some of my favorite adventures so far:

  • running a solo 50k through sand dunes

  • hiking Rim to Rim to Rim through the Grand Canyon

  • spending 5 weeks in Brazil

  • rafting through the Grand Canyon for 3 weeks

  • trekking to Everest Base Camp

  • river guiding on the Colorado and Green Rivers

  • raising $3,000 for charity through climbing volcanoes (including Mt. Rainier)

  • Biking 206 miles from Seattle to Portland (128 on Day 1, the rest on Day 2, after never having biked more than 35 miles in a day)

  • Running a 100 mile race on Mt. Hood and raising $1,000 to get more girls outside

And if you’re a fellow fun-fact lover:

  • I’m from Massachusetts, had a good stint in Utah, and now call the Pacific Northwest home.

  • I’m a trained Fertility Awareness Educator and birth and fertility doula.

  • I homebrew beer and will spend for a great cappuccino.

  • Dog person, but cats are cool too.

  • Sunrise over sunset. (Don’t @ me.)

  • I earned a black belt in karate, have danced until 5 AM in Brazil and have been on the cover of Sports Illustrated (though you can’t pick out my face).

  • Unable to turn down chocolate or ice cream.

I’m also a member of the National Speakers Association of Oregon and am the Vice President of Public Relations for Toastmasters for Speaking Professionals.

A lover of Type 2 fun, I enjoy physical challenges that also test my mindset, like ultrarunning, climbing volcanoes and trying to walk several dogs at once.

My personal and professional adventure experiences allow me to advocate for a happier, healthier world through community experiences, speaking, writing, and events.

Oh yeah, and I wear dresses on mountaintops to show that

1. There's no one way to look outdoorsy.

2. You can do hard things and still have fun.

3. Being a woman is multidimensionally awesome.

So, where will your adventure take us?
